In September 2022, President William Ruto appointed his predecessor Uhuru Kenyatta as his peace envoy for the Great Lakes Region and the Horn of Africa.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has decried a move by the Senate leadership to lockout William Ruto allies from President Uhuru’s address State of the Nation Address.

According to Murkomen, the Senate released a list of Senators who were to attend Uhuru’s State of The Nation Address on Tuesday, November 30 and Ruto-allies were missing.

The outspoken senator said the move is against the constitution since President Uhuru’s address should be attended by all Senators.

“Very petty on the part of my colleagues in the Senate leadership to lockout Senators supporting the Deputy President (William Ruto) from attending the State of the Nation Address (SOTN),

“They should remember Article 132 of the Constitution requires a president to address Parliament…,” an angry Murkomen wrote in a tweet.

He went ahead to provide a list, allegedly, of the Senators who have been invited to the event, and notably, Ruto allies are missing.

The fallout between the DP and his boss William Ruto has been highly witnessed lately.

Last week, William Ruto’s allies were a no-show at the opening of the 7th annual devolution conference that was graced by Raila Odinga on November 24.

Days later William Ruto was a no-show at the conference that he was supposed to officially close on November 26.

Instead, he sent his Chief of Staff Ken Osinde to represent him. Osinde was not welcomed by the Governors and was stopped from reading the DP’s speech.

“We expected the DP to attend and preside over the closing ceremony. As governors, we consider this to be an international event, and not every person can execute such an important function,” said Governor Wycliffe Oparanya of Kakamega.

This prompted the Governors to call Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa to close the conference.
