Stanley Livondo claims William Ruto attempted to assassinate President Uhuru twice

by Amos Khaemba

Political activist, Stanley Livondo has indirectly alleged that Deputy President William Ruto attempted to assassinate President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaking in Thika on Saturday during the thanksgiving ceremony of Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Livondo claimed that a senior ranking government official tried to crash aircraft carrying President Uhuru on two different occasions.

The former Lang’ata parliamentary aspirant said President Uhuru broke ranks with the unnamed government official following the attempts on his life.

The flamboyant politician alleged that in the first instance, President Uhuru Kenyatta was flying from Kisumu to Nairobi while in the second attempt on his life he was headed to the United States through Dubai.

“If your friend who is so close to you like a brother attempts to crash a plane that you are on board more than twice, will you forgive him?

“In the first instance, President Uhuru was flying from Kisumu to Nairobi while on the second attempt he was headed to the United States through Dubai. The plane was forced to divert to Kenya because of the botched attempt to crash his plane,” Livondo said.

The controversial politician further called Mt Kenya residents to unite ahead of the August 9 General Election, saying they need to take advantage of their numeral strength.

The comments by the politician have caused an uproar on social media bitting President Uhuru’s supporters against those of Deputy President William Ruto.

While the Azimio leaning social media users commended Livondo for speaking the truth, those supporting the deputy president called on the Director of Criminal Investigation to arrest the politician for making senseless remarks.

Fallout between Uhuru and Ruto

Since the March 2018 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and the ODM leader Raila Odinga, the president, and his deputy have not been reading from the same scrip.

The two have never revealed the cause of their acrimony, even though sources reveal that President Uhuru is expected to explain to Mt Kenya leaders why he fell out with his number two.

At the same time, deputy president allies have dared the president to explain his difference with DP Ruto, saying they have questions to him too.

“Uhuru, you said you will come to Mt. Kenya and explain to sell Raila as your preferred choice and reveal why you fell out with Ruto. We welcome you; we are waiting for you on the ground.

“Don’t take long. We have missed you. Since we elected you, you deserted us and joined hands with Raila. Come home and explain what went wrong,” Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua said recently.
