Moses Kuria says Raila Odinga can only win presidency with the support of Kalonzo

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has claimed that Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka will not defect from the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria says there no way the ODM leader Raila Odinga will win the August presidential election without the support of Kalonzo Musyoka.

In an interview with The Standard Newspaper, Kuria said that the ODM leader should prepare for a Ruto presidency if he fails to acquire the support of Kalonzo.

“If Raila doesn’t sign Kalonzo to Azimio, he should prepare for Ruto’s coronation, not even swearing-in,” Kuria said.

The outspoken legislature advised the ODM leader to use all means to bring One Kenya Alliance (OKA) under the Azimio la Umoja movement.

Kuria said such a move would be the best political transfer that will frighten the Kenya Kwanza alliance led by Deputy President William Ruto.

“I think they (Kenya Kwanza) will be in a statistical dead-heat by May if OKA joins Azimio,” he said.

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader warned Raila against depending on Ukambani governors comprising of Charity Ngilu, Kivutha Kibwana, and Alfred Mutua, saying their political value cannot outweigh that of Kalonzo Musyoka.

“Even Raila knows there is no way Charity Ngilu, Alfred Mutua, and Kivutha Kibwana can replace Kalonzo Musyoka,” Kuria said.

Kuria’s sentiments mirror those of political commentator David Makali who opined that in the absence of Kalonzo, the deputy president stands high chances of winning the Ukambani voting bloc, even when Raila supported the three Ukambani governors.

“If you take, Kalonzo Musyoka out of the picture it is easier for William Ruto to win the Kamba vote over Raila Odinga, even with the three governors,” Makali stated.

At the same time, Kuria said it was a mistake for the former prime minister to lose the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford Kenya counterparty to DP Ruto.

According to Kuria, the mistake opened up the Western voting bloc which has traditionally voted for the ODM leader.

“Losing Mudavadi and Wetang’ula was a big loss for Raila. It means he has made Western votes one of the areas he has to do some heavy lifting whereas it could have been a walkover,” stated Kuria.
