During the heated 2022 presidential bid, Ndii campaigned for William Ruto to succeed former president Uhuru Kenyatta who was leaving power.

Ruto’s main challenger in the 2022 presidential polls was Raila Odinga who was running on Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party.

According to IEBC official results, Ruto floored Raila after polling 6.1 million votes against Raila’s 5.9 million votes.

And now Ndii seems to regret endorsing Ruto saying it would have been better if Raila had succeeded Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a series of tweets and replies, Ndii accused President William Ruto’s predecessor of doing nothing to address the debt nightmare adding that the former Head of State chose to ‘burn Forex Reserves’ instead.

He said it would have been good if Raila won the presidency so that he could inherit the mess created by his ‘dynasty brother’ Uhuru Kenyatta.

”Now we become the falls guys for biting the bullet. You don’t know how often I wish we lost the election to see the dynasty brothers wading in their mess,” he said in a tweet.

President Ruto’s economic adviser further asked Kenyans to brace for the worst as debts mature.

He said the weakening Kenya shilling against the United States of America Dollar is set to worsen the situation has been made worse with the shilling.

”Now we have depreciated to KES 150 – 1 U$D. If the rates don’t ease for markets to open for frontier economies…it’s a wing and a prayer. Over to you churchgoers,” he added.
