ANC deputy party leader says Musalia could be Uhuru’s secret successor

by Nderi Caren

Amani National Congress deputy Party leader Ayub Savula has said that Musalia Mudavadi could be President Uhuru’s secret successor that he has kept people guessing about.

According to the Lugari MP, it is premature to think that Raila Odinga is President Uhuru’s obvious and preferred successor.

He argued that President Uhuru will come out to reveal his surprise candidate after 2022 presidential hopefuls have struggled to get the Mt Kenya vote.

“(President) Uhuru said he has a surprise candidate, no one knows the surprise candidate, let people go around, climbing the mountain…but we are waiting for the day that Uhuru will tell us who his surprise candidate is,

“I dreamt that the surprise candidate of Uhuru is someone who is in my heart and yours, don’t be surprised if Uhuru’s candidate is Musalia,” Ayub Savula said as quoted by the Standard Newspaper.

His sentiments come amid a strong stand by Musalia Mudavadi’s party that he will not surrender his presidential ambitions for Raila Odinga.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, a staunch ally of Musalia, argued that it is Raila who is in need of the Amani National Congress leader and not the other way round.

“We have come here to tell ODM, stop calling us at night, we do not want your phone calls. We have already settled for Musalia, and he will not support Raila Amollo Odinga again,

Every night Raila calls Musalia asking him to support him. If Musalia has no influence, why are you calling him?” Malala posed in a recent media address.

On Thursday, November 25, Raila Odinga attended Kalonzo Musyoka’s National Delegates Convention, where he hinted at working with him in the presence of Musalia and other One Kenya Alliance leaders.

“I am sure what Kalonzo (Musyoka) wants is what Raila wants. Going forward our roads will meet again. Come December 9, 2021, I will speak,” Raila said giving a possibility of working with Kalonzo Musyoka.
