Atheist society of Kenya blasts First Lady for hosing religious leaders

Since President William Ruto assumed the highest office on land, the First Lady mama Rachael Ruto has been hosting gospel musicians and religious leaders at the State House.

For instance, on Wednesday, September 14, William Ruto’s wife hosted Prophet Ian Ndlovu of the Divine Kingdom Baptist Church based in Zimbabwe.

On the same day, Rachael Ruto hosted Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng Kusi of the Power Chapel Worldwide Ghana in what many suspect William Ruto’s administration will be Godly.

However, in a statement on Thursday, September 15, the Atheist Society of Kenya accused the First lady of “abusing religious freedom.”

“The Atheist in Kenya Society considers this a cynical abuse of religious freedoms by the First Lady of the republic of Kenya,” said Harrison Mumia, President of Atheist in Kenya Society.

He further urged President William Ruto’s wife to desist from turning the State House into a temple stating that she is violating Articles 8 and 32 of the Kenyan Constitution 2010.

“The State House, which is the official residence of the president, should be used for state functions only and not religious functions. Any religious functions by the first family should be conducted in their private residence,

“Rachael Ruto is effectively transforming the State House into a religious playfield. This goes against Articles 8 and 32 of our Constitution,” Mumia added.

The Atheists further warned the First Lady against assuming that the country is only made up of one religious belief stating that Kenya consists of citizens who hold different religious beliefs and practices.

“We would like to caution the first lady to desist from this flagrant abuse of religious freedom. Kenya is made up of citizens who hold different religious beliefs including Cristiatiniyi, Muslim, Hindu, and Atheists. First Lady Rachael Ruto should not assume that Christianity is the only religion in Kenya,” he said.
