Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has faulted Safaricom for “failing to help him recover” his money.

In a statement on Thursday, September 28, the DAP-K lawmaker said he accidentally sent KSh 35,500 to the wrong number.

However, upon making calls to Safaricom Customer care, Salasya termed the team as “lazy and careless” and that it was no longer trusted to handle customers’ plight.

“Safaricom customer care has become bogus lazy careless and poor customer service. It’s no longer the trusted Safaricom we had before,

“Send your money to a wrong no by mistake at your own peril you will never get it back ata uwapigie and notify them immediately for rescue, I have just lost 32500,” he said in X (formerly Twitter).

It is worth noting that the Mumias East MP is just one of the Kenyans who have been losing their hard-earned cash.

Two months ago, former Kenya Medical Association Chairman Andrew Suleh’s money lost a whooping KSh 100,000 to fraudsters via M-Pesa.

In a tweet, Suleh complained that he had been conned via M-Pesa by “insiders at Safaricom who used a fake account on Twitter and a landline whose ownership was later changed.”

“Iron Man has been conned by insiders at Safaricom via M-Pesa using 07246***71 and a fake account Safaricom and a landline 0202***506 name of Brian Mochama which has now been replaced at Safaricom to Merci Melei,” the tweet read.

In the comment section, tweets came out to complain about Safaricom’s automation of services and with more complaints about the fraudsters.
