Ezra Chiloba has finally resigned as the Communications Authority Director General.

“The Board of Directors of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has this morning, 19th October 2023, accepted the resignation of Ezra Chiloba as the Director General,” Mungai said.

While appreciating his immense contribution to the wider ICT sector, the board chair further wished Chiloba success in his future endeavors.

“On behalf of the Authority, I wish the outgoing Director-General success in his future endeavors and appreciate his invaluable contribution to the organization and the wider ICT sector,” she added.

Chiloba served as the CA Director General for two years, having been appointed in October 2021.

Last month, Chiloba was indefinitely suspended for, among other things, allegations of abuse of office and conflict of interest.

This was after an internal audit accused Chiloba and nine other top officials at the authority allegedly mishandled mortgages and allowances running into millions of shillings.

However, in a letter dated October 2 and addressed to CA Board Chair Mary Mungai, Chiloba refuted the accusations as “baseless and inaccurate”.

He underscored that all actions taken in relation to the management of the said mortgage scheme strictly adhered to relevant policies and guidelines.

“I wish to state that the allegations leveled against me, (Conflict of Interest, abuse of office, intent to defraud the authority, lack of professionalism and integrity, negligence of duty, and failure to show due care are unfounded, incorrect, and unjustified,” said Chiloba in the letter.

“I wish to reiterate that all steps with respect to Staff mortgage administration were undertaken in compliance with applicable framework and policies,” Chalba said.
