This, group argued that would lessen the drama witnessed during the separation of several couples.

It said it is time for brides and grooms to define their goals and expectations in marriage contracts if they want to be happy.

“The atheist community of Kenya is of the view that it is time to rethink until death do us part. We encourage Kenyans to embrace renewable marriage contracts lasting two years that lay out marital duties for each party,

“Each partner will commit to that contract during the two years. At the end of the two years, the couple can choose to renew their agreement, adjust its terms, or dissolve their marriage,” it said in a statement.

Further, the organization argued that renewable marriages would allow the involved parties to modify their marital terms to suit their evolving needs better.

“Rather than staying in marriage ‘until death’, renewable marriages would allow partners to tweak their marital contract accordingly, or agree that it is beyond tweaking and end it without the shock or drama of a contentious divorce lingering doubts about what went wrong,” it noted.
