Francis Atwoli: Deep State knows who will be Kenya’s fifth president

COTU Boss Francis Atwoli has assured of the existence of the deep state, and its role in determining Kenya’s fifth president.

In an interview on TV47, Atwoli said votes cast by Kenyans do not determine the next president, but rather the deep state.

He explained that the persons in the deep state have an influence on the decision made by voters; this way, they influence voting patterns indirectly.

“They have calculations, they know even before us the voters know who will become the president and after that, they will seek an early appointment have a meeting with the person after that they put their gears or they put whatever they want into gears and start moving now. And you will not be able to defeat such a person,” explained the COTU Secretary-General.

Atwoli revealed that another way in which the deep state will determine Kenya’s fifth president is by sponsoring the campaigns of various presidential candidates.

He said that the candidate who receives financial muscle from the deep state is most likely to win.

“Because you see Kenya’s politics is commercialized, if you are not funded you can not make any mark and in a presidential election is not only one political financier you must have financiers and goodwill support from the influencers,” Atwoli added.

In September 2021, Nyandarua Governor Francis Kimemia also confirmed the existence of the deep state, saying they will influence the 2022 polls without necessarily rigging

The discussions on the influence of the deep state come amid accusations from Deputy President William Ruto that Raila Odinga is a government project.

This claim has been harshly rebuked by the ODM faction, with its Chairman John Mbadi saying that Ruto is the one who is a project of cartels in Kenya.
