Anwar, who represented Lamu County between 2017 and 2022 was rescued by ParkLands police officers who were on patrol.

It is reported that the men in uniform spotted the badly injured man who had managed to walk to the Fig Tree-Kipande road junction and rushed to his aid.

“Officers on patrol found the former senator at Fig Tree bleeding on his head and mouth. He told the officers that he was coming from CBD on foot en route to his guest room in Ngara and when he reached Globe Roundabout he was attacked by a group of youth,” the Nation reported.

The lawmaker was rushed to the Agha Khan hospital where he is currently recuperating.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time the controversial politician is being assaulted.

In 2019,  Anwar was on the receiving end after he was attacked by unknown assailants at a popular club in Nairobi in the company of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s daughter Saumu Mbuvi.

Last month, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki assured city residents that the security in the country’s capital had been beefed up ahead of the festive season.

Speaking after making an impromptu visit to the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) on Monday, November 28, Kindiki revealed that the government had deployed more plain-clothes officers to complement the security agents patrolling the city.

“We cannot surrender this city to criminals and the government will not allow criminals to run roughshod. If you think you have enough weapons to counter the government, I want to assure you that you have dialed the wrong number. we will fish you out of your hideouts,” Kindiki said.
