Many politicians have come out to ridicule Cate Waruguru for losing the Laikipia East parliamentary United Democratic Alliance nominations.

The vocal woman rep emerged second after garnering 5, 595 votes behind the incumbent Amin Deddy who scooped 12,743 votes to fly the UDA party flag for Laikipia East parliamentary seat in this year’s elections.

But leaders both in the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition seem to have been impressed with the loss of Waruguru.

The Kiringaga gubernatorial aspirant Purity Ngirici shared a video on Facebook where Waruguru had called on the Kirinyaga residents to vote in Ann Waiguru as their governor at the expense of Ngirici.

“I want to ask you, the people of Kirinyaga, to vote in Waiguru as the governor for a second term and let Karua and Ngirici find something else to do,” says Waruguru in a video taken last year.

But Ngirici who was at one time a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto indirectly thanked the Laikipia residents for voting Waruguru out.

“Aaaah kajaribu kupanga watu huyu lakini kapangwa mapema.Over to you in Laikipia (She tried to make plans for other people and forgot to make plans for herself. Over to you in Laikipia,” Ngirici captioned the video.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria on the other hand shares a photo of Waruguru on his Facebook page without any caption in indirect ridicule of the Laikipia Woman Representative over her loss.

Though Kuri and Waruguru are both members of the newly registered Kenya Kwanza coalition, are well-known political enemies.

By the time Kivumbi.co.ke was publishing this article, Kuria’s post had attracted more than 27,000 likes and 6,400 comments from Kenyans celebrating Waruguru’s loss

On the other hand, Deddy who won the nomination reminded the abrasive lawmaker that elections are not won through insults but by

“The people of Laikipia East are development conscious, that is what they want. They are not interested in insults,” Deddy said.
