Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru has lost her bid to run for Laikipia East parliamentary seat on a UDA ticket.

The vocal woman rep emerged second after garnering 5, 595 votes behind Deddy who scooped 12,743 votes to fly the UDA party flag for Laikipia East parliamentary seat in this year’s elections.

Kimari Mutahi emerged third in the UDA nominations that were held on Thursday, April 14, across 36 counties amid rigging claims raised by Waruguru.

On Thursday, April 14, Waruguru said that the aid of Deddy together with the help of police officers dressed as civilians hijacked the UDA official and took away the voting material.

She further alleged that the ballot papers were filled and later claimed to have been the results at one of the polling centers within the constituency.

Last month, Waruguru picked a fight with Deddy whom she accused of perpetuating politics of intimidation and harassment.

This was after Waruguru, who is among the latest Mt Kenya leaders to ditch President Uhuru’s Jubilee for William Ruto’s UDA alleged that the Deddy was scared of her beauty and had resorted to destroying her posters and banners within the constituency.

She officially joins a list of UDA die-hards who have lost in the just ended UDA nominations.

Others who have lost include nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, Soy MP Caleb Kositany among others.

Commenting on the loss, UDA party leader William Ruto said he is not worried about the casualties of the nominations.

The presidential hopeful urged the losers to accept the outcomes of the primaries saying it is good for the party.

“Mwaura told me that he made so many enemies over the course of the nominations process, but I tend to believe if it is for the good of the party then we are fine with that,” William Ruto said.
