Kenyan politicians are fond of launching embarrassing projects, that have left them a laughing stock among members of the public.
They have mastered the art of having a camera capturing them giving citizens the pettiest gifts possible.
Most of this is done to attract publicity, more so, before the General Election.
Immediately after an election, when the politician has been elected, they disappear from the public, only to return when the next General Election is approaching.
Several politicians have been caught on the spot for launching embarrassing projects, and branding their names on them.
Here are some politicians who have attracted criticisms after showing off their embarrassing projects;
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa
The Kimilili Member of parliament has been captured pulling embarrassing publicity stunts in order to impress electorates.
A year ago, Didmus Barasa visited his former school, dressed in a pair of shorts and shirts. He had no shoes on his feet, and engaged in sporting activities with pupils at the school.
Months later, the MP pulled another stunt by visiting an old grandma in his constituency and preparing tea for her.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo has also sparked criticism for taking part in building mud houses for his constituents.
However, Otiende dismisses his attackers, saying that his aim is to eradicate all mud houses in his constituency.
Kakamega Woman Rep Elsie Muhanda
The Kakamega MP attracted criticism lately after renovating a mud house for a resident.
Elsie took a picture, showing how she had changed the house. She further wrote her name on the house.
The writings read; “Elsie Muhanda Mama County Kakamega funded”.
President Uhuru and DP Ruto.
In 2016, president Uhuru and his deputy went to Kilifi County to inspect the progress of electricity connectivity.
While in the area, the duo visited an old grandmother’s mud house, showing off how the government had enabled her to get electricity connectivity.
Rebecca Ruto
An aspiring Baringo Woman Representative recently attracted criticism over her embarrassing publicity stunts.
The politician visited a primary school in the area, where she gave out a Sufuria(cooking pot) that was branded in her name.
Kesses MP Kiprop Mishra
Kesses MP Kiprop Mishra was also criticised after taking a photo while launching a television set.
