Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has threatened to lead Nairobi women in nude protest to fight for equality in slums.

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has been ranked among the third least active senators in the 13th Parliament.

This is according to a report by Mzalendo Trust which released its first scorecard for the 13th parliament.

The 2023 Parliamentary Scorecard covers the period between September 2022 to June 30, 2023.

According to the scorecard, others who were ranked as least active lawmakers include nominated Senator Hezena Lamaletian (ODM) and Chimera Mwinzago (UDA).

Nyamu only spoke 17 times, while Lamaletian and Chimera spoke 23 and 27 times respectively.

Both Lamaletian and Nyamu were nominated under President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei, Eddy Aketh of Migori, and John Kinyua of Laikipia were on the other side ranked as the most active senators.

“Most active senators were Samson Cherargei of Nandi under UDA flagship, Eddy Oketch of Migori under ODM, and John Kinyua of Laikipia (UDA),” the report read in part.

The report comes just a week after the youthful legislator declared herself the Nairobi Senator claiming that ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna was too caught up with the anti-government protests.

“You have introduced me as a senator for Nairobi, but we know we elected a senator who is busy with the maandamano so I have taken over the job that he was elected to do because he should be in this kind of a critical occasion,” she said in the video shared by Citizen TV.

The youthful legislator has been making news headlines since she was elected not because of her work but because of her conduct.

For instance, in December 2022, Karen Nyamu caused drama at Mugithi artiste Samidoh’s concert in Dubai which saw her being summoned to appear before the party’s disciplinary committee.
