Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s wife Madina Giovanni Fazzini has filed for a divorce at the Mombasa Chief Kadhi’s Court.
According to court documents seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, the woman of Italian-Somali roots wants the court to dissolve the union after she separated from the county boss nine years ago.
In a petition filed on Wednesday, February 2, Madina said their marriage is broken and irreversable adding that there was no hope for reconciliation whatsoever.
“I want to state openly and unequivocal that our marriage died irretrievably with no chance of revival given we have both moved on over the years,” she said.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) deputy party leader and Madina got married in February 2011.
The two lived a lovely life as husband and wife until 2013 and were blessed with two children aged nine and eight years respectively.
However, in 2013, their marriage turned sour prompting the second-term governor to walk out of their matrimonial home leaving her with their two children.
She said since the Governor moved out, efforts to reconcile the two through legal and social standpoints have not bored fruits.
“Since the respondent moved out of our matrimonial home in June 2013, the substance of our marriage has dissipated and has no basis to be sustained from a legal and social standpoint,
“I do not have hope or see a possibility of reconciliation or compromise of whatsoever nature or kind between myself and the respondent,” added Fazzini.
It is understood that this is not the first county boss to amicably divorce.
In 2020, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua separated amicably with Lilian Ng’ang’a.
Lilian said she asked Mutua for an amicable break-up, but the latter described her as an enemy, saying he will crush her.
