ODM deputy party leader Hassan Joho could dump his party leader Raila Odinga for President William Ruto if the recent development is anything to go by.

This was after the former Mombasa governor on Thursday, October 20, for the first time recognized William Ruto as the legit Head of State.

Joho, who seriously campaigned against President William Ruto during the 2022 presidential campaign, said he will soon seek an audience with President William Ruto.

Speaking after stewarding a meeting with other leaders from the six counties of the coast, Joho said his yet-to-be meeting with President Ruto is for the good of the coastal people.

“We will allow the six counties and all the leaders to come up with a development agenda for the region which we will evaluate and formally engage the president with it. We will prioritize the coastal person while having a structured engagement with the president,” Joho said.

Joho, a close ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga further maintained that he is ready to work with all elected leaders from the region irrespective of their political leanings.

“From today, all of us as coastal leaders will enhance our unity immaterial of political affiliations. This therefore means we would be all united under unity of purpose irrespective of our political sides,” he said.

Joho has been missing in the political limelight after his party leader Raila Odinga unsuccessfully contested the election of President William Ruto at the Supreme Court.

Raila and his 2022 presidential running mate Martha Karua have maintained that they do not recognize William Ruto as the president-elect.

The two insist that they won the 2022 presidential election but their victory was overturned by what they term as “rogue officials” at the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
