The second phase of the recruitment drives which started in Busia County on Monday, January 15, has since entered the coastal region.

While in Tana River, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna gifted ODM supporters who have registered as party members in a bid to increase its membership.

Sifuna started by challenging leaders to all register and serve as an example to their supporters.

He then randomly picked some party supporters and asked them to give their details for confirmation if they had been registered as party members.

Luckily, those whose details were reflected in the ODM party register walked away with KSh 1000 cash.

“Nikipata jina lako hapa nakupa KSh 1000 taslimu pesa ya Nairobi,” Sifuna said.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader, in a video posted on the X platform, said the exercise will conclude in March 2024.

Raila said those willing to join and register as ODM party members can do so at the party branches across all constituencies in the country.

“Members can register at the party branches across all constituencies in the country.”

Ahead of the anticipated grassroots elections, the Central Committee recommended that the party elections be devolved to the grassroots and managed at the county level by two coordinators.

“There shall be a coordinating committee of three persons at the National level reporting directly to the Party’s Central Committee. This is aimed at improving efficiency, credibility, and grassroots empowerment in the spirit of revolution which the party holds dearly.”
