Mudavadi, Kalonzo say they’re being pressured to support Raila’s 2022 presidential ambition

One Kenya Alliance principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka say they are being compelled to support Raila’s 2022 presidential ambitions.

President Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly met OKA principals on Saturday, October 30, in a bid to convince them into supporting his handshake partner Raila Odinga in the 2022 General Election claiming that they all have a common enemy.

The Head of State met ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula where he allegedly coerced them to support Raila’s 2022 presidential ambition.

But speaking ATG Church in Thika town in the company of other OKA principals during a thanksgiving service and a Harambee, Mudavadi said he will not be forced to support someone stating that leadership comes from the people.

“It is Kenyans who have the power to pick the leader they want. Let us forget the propaganda being peddled around in to force some of us to support someone. I have said this before and I will repeat it everywhere I go. Leadership comes from the people and the people must decide,” said Mudavadi.

The President is said to have expressed discomfort about Mudavadi’s ongoing campaigns where the former Vice President has been persistently claiming that the economy was on its knees due to the ballooning public debt.

For three months now, the OKA leaders have been holding staggered talks with President Uhuru aimed at compelling them to agree on supporting one of them against his deputy president William Ruto, with whom they have fallen out.

Two such meetings were held in Mombasa State House and another one at the Nairobi Statehouse but none of them bore fruits, with the OKA chief’s insisting that they had supported Raila severally and it was time for him to reciprocate their support.
