Wiper Head of Political Affairs Norman Magaya has said that all the political formations in Kenya are aimed at beating Deputy President William Ruto in the much-anticipated 2022 presidential election.
In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, August 3, the former National Super Alliance Chief Executive Officer dismissed the notion that political parties are joining forces to win elections.
“I think what is clear, we have to define what Kenyans want most at this particular time and that should be the force behind the driving formation of political parties,
“and the battle lines have been drawn that it is the rest against United Democratic Movement (UDA). That is undeniable,
While lauding the recent dissolution of the NASA coalition to pave the way for former principals to form other political alliances, Magaya said that the 2022 race will be between UDA, an outfit which William Ruto has said he will most likely use to vie for the presidency in 2022.
“Eventually all these political alliances will have to find a way to confront the elephant in the room. How do we deal with the UDA elephant,” he added.
It is understood that representatives of both Jubilee and ODM parties are in the advanced stages of merging the ruling party with the opposition, a move that will see the two outfits field a single presidential flag bearer to face off with DP Ruto for the presidency.
“We want to be more accommodative and ensure that we bring all Kenyans together. We are ready to listen to those who may disagree with us. We want everybody on board because we are not in the domain of disrespecting others,” said Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju.
Yesterday, Wiper, ANC, and Ford Kenya parties jointly signed an agreement to officially kill NASA as they shifted their focus on the recently formed One Kenya Alliance.
Wiper Democratic Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka recently declared that defeating William Ruto is his number one priority.
“Defeating Ruto is my number one priority, and I know why. I also welcome my brother Johnson Muthama (UDA chairman) to work with us once we clinch the victory because defeating you (UDA), we shall,” said the Wiper Party leader at a recent function in Ukambani.
