Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has announced his intentions to vie for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

In an interview with KTN News on Tuesday, January 9, Kalonzo said he was the face of Kenyans who have been telling him to vie.

“Kenyans want me on the ballot. I am just a face of willing Kenyans who say you must go there,” he said.

Adding “I am just a face of a struggle. This struggle is so serious that we can’t afford to get it wrong.”

The Wiper leader said he was ready to face President William Ruto whom he described as his main challenger in the 2027 elections.

Kalonzo, who supported the former Prime Minister in 2013 and 2017, ruled out supporting Raila’s sixth stab at the presidency saying that vying for the presidency is nothing but a clarion call.

“Vying for the presidency is a clarion call, but again, I don’t want to jump the gun; I want it to be an announcement by the party,” he said.

Others eying the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition presidential ticket include ODM leader Raila Odinga, and Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua among others.

However, the former vice president exuded confidence that he will floor Raila Odinga, and Martha Karua in the primaries.

While stating that he did not believe in payback, Kalonzo said he had supported both Raila Odinga and Martha Karua and that the country was now ready for his candidature.

“I have played the team… I have selflessly supported others. If the country is ready for it, I will go for it,” he added.

The Wiper leader further said he was ready to face Raila Odinga if he does not support his 2027 presidential candidature.
