The suspects; Kenneth Mutua, Fredrick Muriuki, Franklin Kimathi, Timothy Kinoti, and Murangiri Kenneth were nabbed on Thursday, January 4.

According to the DCI officer in charge of the investigations, the accused persons contacted the Meru blogger, claiming that he would meet with Mwangaza to seek a truce.

The deceased traveled from his home in Igembe South to meet the five suspects in Meru town where he met with the accused persons and subsequently went missing.

Since then, Sniper went missing prompting his family to raise alarm.

“The deceased’s wife tried to contact him in vain prompting her to report the matter at Maua Police Station,” read part of the court document.

The Meru blogger was reported missing on December 2, 2023, and his body was later found dumped in Mutonga River in Tharaka Nithi County on December 16, 2023.

A postmortem examination conducted by government pathologist Johansen Oduor at the Marimanti Level 4 Hospital Mortuary in Tharaka Nithi, Meru County revealed that he died after being strangled on the neck.

It is worth noting that since she took an oath of office, in August 2022, Mwangaza’s leadership has not been as smooth as other county bosses.

So far, the governor has survived two impeachment motions tabled against her by the Meru County Assembly.
