Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has lashed out at a section of Mt Kenya leaders who have endorsed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as the perfect running mate to William Ruto in the 2027 elections.
A week ago, Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and his Nyeri counterpart Wamatinga Wahome fronted Kiharu MP for the DP position come 2027.
The senators together with 20 MPs elected on a UDA party opined that Gachagua had lost grassroots support due to his unending disrespect to other elected leaders stating that it would be hard for President Ruto to be elected with Gachagua as his running mate.
“We will request Ruto to choose a young person from Murang’a who is Ndindi Nyoro. Gachagua has lost his ground, treating people disrespectfully, including elected leaders,” Nyutu said.
However, addressing a roadside crowd in Meru County on Thursday, January 25, Gachagua said the two leaders were out of order and asked them to mind their utterances.
“Wachunge matamshi yao, kwa sababu wengine wakienda kwa ma TV they get excited wanapotea na kuingia kwa mambo yenye haina haja,” Gachagua said.
Loosely translated to: “They should watch their words because some are excited when they appear on the TV and focus on important things.”
The second in command further asked the leaders pushing for MP Ndindi Nyoro’s running mate position to desist from early campaigns.
Gachagua known to be a truthful man instead asked Murang’a senator Joe Nyutu and Nyeri Senator Mawatinga Wahome to focus on their on their oversight role in the senate.
“Those who have been elected on UDA and Kenya Kwanza ticket need to focus on development. They should mind their utterances. When some of them are on TV they get excited and start speaking garbage,” he said.
