He then went straight and welcomed his boss to make his remarks.

“It is now my privilege to ask you to be upstanding as I invite His Excellency the President of the Republic of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto,” Gachagua added amid laughter and shock from the audience.

In his opening remarks, the Head of State acknowledged his Deputy’s offer not to make a long speech.

Addressing a social protection conference in Nairobi, the president said that beneficiaries of social protection programs will be getting their money before public servants earn their salaries.

“I have given instructions that from June 1, before public servants earn their salaries, cash transfer money will be paid. It is the right and moral thing to do,” the President said.
