Revenge is for the weak, Mutahi Ngunyi tells President Ruto

by Enock Ndayala
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki yesterday declared Monday, November 13, a public holiday.

On Thursday, February 2, President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza government scaled down ex-president Uhuru Kenyatta’s security details.

Confirmed reports indicate that Uhuru’s security personnel was downgraded from 96 elite officers to 25, adding that security personnel attached to Kenyatta’s other family members were all withdrawn.

The latest withdrawal of VIP security, however, rekindles similar action by President Kenyatta’s government in 2021 when the security of then-Deputy President Ruto was downgraded.

As such, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi claimed that the withdrawal of Uhuru’s security personnel could be revenge.

Mutahi confirmed that by changing the Kenyan currency, the then Head of State did wrong to William Ruto.

The analyst further explained that by demolishing the buildings of close associates of William Ruto, Uhuru did wrong to his then-deputy president.

However, while quoting Albert Einstein, Mutahi termed President Ruto’s move as “Weak” adding that strong people forgive and intelligent people ignore.

He warned the Head of State against revenge stating that it will destroy him.

“Dear President Ruto: weak people revenge, strong people forgive, Intelligent People, ignore (Albert Einstein),

“Uhuru Kenyatta did you wrong. Truth be told. From changing the 1000 bop note to demolishing buildings of your funders. But to revenge is to be weak. It will destroy you,” Mutahi Ngunyi said in a Tweet.

But speaking at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa, Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome said there was nothing political about this scale-down.

“The person in charge of the Presidential Escort Unit that serves the Retired and Serving Presidents is led by an Assistant Inspector General.

“Once a President is retired, he is supposed according to the law, to be guarded by a Superintendent Police Officer. I recalled the officer and assigned the officer a commanding responsibility according to their rank,” he said.
