City lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, has said billionaire businessman-cum-politician Jimmy Wanjigi will easily beat former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the ODM presidential nominations.
Taking to Twitter, on Thursday, August 2, Ahmednasir said Wanjigi will win in ODM presidential nominations if the party will conduct a free and fair election.
“Let us be open about this…Jimmy Wanjigi (JW) in a free and fair party nomination will soundly beat Hon Raila for ODM Presidential nomination,” he said.
According to him, the ODM party leader Raila Odinga has lost support from regions he used to dictate votes including the North-Eastern region.
In June, billionaire businessman Jimmy Wanjigi threw his hat in the ring where he announced that he will be seeking the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2022 General Election.
Wanjigi expressed optimism that he will be on the ballot for the 2022 presidential race as he will have floored Raila Odinga in ODM presidential nominations.
“I will be in the race, (for 2022 presidential race),” Wanjigi said in a previous address to journalists.
Yesterday, political analyst Edward Kisiang’ani political claimed Raila Odinga is using businessman Jimmy Wanjigi to get an ODM ticket ahead of the crucial 2022 presidential race.
Kisiang’ani argued that Raila technically asked Wanjigi to battle him at the party primaries so that it does not appear as if the ODM leader will be given a direct presidential nomination.
“For Raila to sanitise his predetermined endorsement as the ODM flag bearer, he has to set up a mock opposition in the party. That mock opposition is being provided by Jimmy Wanjigi. The noises against Wanjigi have also been preset. Both Wanjigi and the noises are Raila Odinga’s project,” he said.
