The leaders majority of whom are from the vote-rich Mt Kenya region instead want the Head of State to name Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his 2027 presidential running mate.

Led by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga Member of Parliament Edward Muriu, the leaders cautioned that having Gachagua as Ruto’s presidential running mate would increase his chances of being a one-term president.

“Ruto should drop Gachagua so that he can pick somebody who can be able to make friends across the body, somebody who respects people,

“So we are saying that Ndindi Nyoro is the person who will save the president in 2027,” Senator Nyutu said.

The senator argued that the second in command has failed to meet the cut of an individual who can be entrusted with leadership.

He further accused Gachagua of disrespect and treating other leaders like trash, a move he said has seen him lose ground.

“We do not want somebody who has been talking about the disrespect that former President Uhuru Kenyatta had while he is worse. He thinks that some of us are trash. So we are saying that this is not the kind of person that you can entrust to lead the nation,” he said.

It is understood that this is not the first time the vote-rich Mt Kenya region is banking on Ndindi Nyoro as its perfect political kingpin.

A few days ago, close to 20 UDA legislators endorsed Ndindi Nyoro as a potential candidate for the 2032 presidential bid, a move that analysts say could trigger a supremacy battle with Deputy President Rigathi Gahagua.
