He said some unnamed judges are working with the opposition to delay key government projects like a housing fund and universal healthcare initiatives.

“It is not possible that we respect the judiciary while a few individuals who are beneficiaries of corruption are using corrupt judicial officials to block our development projects,” Ruto said.

But led by LSK President Eric Theuri, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and vocal lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, the member’s lawyers danced with placards insisting that the President must respect the judiciary and its mandate.

Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru was captured giving President William Ruto three options; to respect the judiciary and its mandate or go home.

“Mambo ni mangapi?” said lawyer Ndegwa Njiru.

“Mambo ni matatu, heshimu mahakama na sharia ama uende nyumbani,” Njiru’s colleagues responded in unisom.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that since he took over the reins of power, the judiciary has been issuing court orders against President William Ruto’s policies.

For instance, in November 2023, President William Ruto suffered a setback after a High Court in Nairobi declared a housing levy unconstitutional.

The Head of State however threatened to disobey court orders restricting his flagship policies.

Ruto insisted that the independence of the Judiciary should not be used as a pretext to deprive Kenyans of development, saying it is their constitutional right.
