Nandi senator says Raila allies in public offices should be fired

by Enock Ndayala

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei now wants public officers who de-campaigned against President William Ruto in the 2022 elections fired.

Speaking during an interview on Spice FM, Cherargei, urged the Head of State to fire all state officers who campaigned for opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Cherargei argued that it was not logical for the officers who did not believe in the ‘Bottom-Up’ economic model to now pretend to be helping the Kenya Kwanza government achieve its pre-election manifesto.

“In this government, there are still very many remnants of Azimio One Kenya Alliance in senior positions and they should be shown the door. There is no option,

“Let the remnants of Azimio who are within the system be cleaned so that when the president delivers he does so on a clean slate where people believe in it and there is no two-way about it,” Cheragei said.

He stated on Wednesday, February 22, that his proposal has already been implemented in the selection of Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) and Principal Secretaries (PSs), and that other levels of government should not be spared.

Cherargei’s comments come just days after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua sensationally claimed that the Kenya Kwanza government will operate just like a company limited.

Speaking on Sunday, DP Gachagua declared that government appointments and contracts are a preserve of those who voted for the Kenya Kwanza government.

But President William Ruto on Wednesday, February 22, dismissed Gachagua’s claims and stated that his government would serve all Kenyans regardless of how they voted.

However, in what appears that the remarks by Gachagua and Cherargei are true, the Public Service Commission on Tuesday, February 21, amended the list of the Chief Administrative Secretaries to accommodate allies of President William Ruto.
