Kieni MP ready to lose his seat for supporting Raila Odinga

by Enock Ndayala

Kieni MP Kanini Kega has said he is ready to lose his parliamentary seat supporting ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid than work under a Willliam Ruto government.

Kega, a President Uhuru Kenyatta staunch supporter said he better be in political cold for five years than work as a legislator under Deputy President William Ruto’s presidency.

“Am prepared to lose Kieni parliamentary seat if campaigning for Baba (Raila Odinga) is the reason,” Kega said in a Tweet.

The vocal Jubilee said he will not shift his allegiance to other political camps just like other leaders from the region are doing to ensure they remain in power.

Unlike Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru who said she dumped the Jubilee party so that she can remain politically relevant, Kega said he will stick with the ODM leader to the last rally.

“I will not stop even if the rest of my colleagues from this region are playing safe politics, I will campaign for Raila (Odinga) till the last rally in 2022,” he said.

Kega, while appearing for a JKlive interview last month said the vote-rich Mt Kenya region has previously denied the former Prime Minister an opportunity in favour of their own.

The MP said, that having listened to the ODM leader, he believes that he is best suited to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta’s tenure that ends in August 2022.

“I have now listened to him and he has the country at heart and I believe he would make a good president,

“He has always wanted to give us a message but we as Kikuyus said, since he is vying against one of our own, we do not want to listen, but of late now I’ve been able to engage him and he is very resourceful,” Kanini Kega said.
