President Ruto tells of Raila for calling US Ambassador rogue

by Enock Ndayala

Opposition leader Raila Odinga on Thursday, August 17, told US Ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman to keep off the country’s internal affairs.

While addressing the Devolution Conference in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, Raila said if Whitman continues to comment on Kenyan issues, then the opposition political faction may be forced to petition the US government to recall her.

“Tell the rogue Ambassador Kenya is not the United States and it is not a colony of the United States; keep your mouth shut while here, otherwise, we will call for your recall back to your country,” he said.

However, speaking on Friday, August 18, Kenya’s President William Ruto clapped back at Raila for telling off Meg Whitman to shut her mouth.

The Head of State said he will defend the US adding that the European country has huge investment in the country which is creating employment opportunities for our people.

“We will be very ungrateful to vilify the people creating opportunities for us. We have KSh 200 billion investment from the American government. We have huge investments from Germany and other countries. We must know what are our interests and we must secure those interests,” the President said.

The First in Command instead termed the Azimio la Umoja One Kkenya Coalition party leader a rogue.

“In any case, the American ambassador said two statements of facts. She said the last election was the freest and the fairest in the history of Kenya which is a statement of fact,

“I was just imagining, between the people who are orchestrating the destruction of property and sabotaging our economy and those who are working with us to create investment opportunities. Between these two I’m wondering who is rogue,” the president said.
