President Uhuru has come under attack from Deputy President William Ruto and his allies for planning to cling to power after the August 9 General Election.

Speaking at various rallies over the weekend Ruto’s allies have turned their guns blazing to President Uhuru after the Jubilee party retained him as its party leader.

Speaking in Vihiga County, on Sunday, February 6, Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala sensationally claimed that plan by Uhuru to influence ODM leader Raila Odinga’s running mate is meant to appoint himself as the number two.

“President Uhuru Kenyatta plans to succeed himself and sneak back into government as Raila’s running mate in this year’s elections. Kenyans must reject this,” Malala said.

On his part Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, while speaking at Tononoka ground on Saturday, February 5, during the Kenya Kwanza rally, challenged Uhuru to retire peacefully.

“This attempt by Uhuru to hold on power!” MP Rigathi Gachagua said on the move by President Kenyatta to try and influence his succession is only meant to extend his stay in power.

Deputy President William Ruto of recent has been hitting out at his boss for attempting to force ODM leader Raila Odinga onto Kenyans.

“We cannot allow conmanship because this country belongs to all of us. Those who want to pick a leader for us should know that we will not accept,” Ruto said at Tononoka.

During the Jubilee Parliamentary Group (PG) held at State House President Uhuru, was mandated by the party to continue serving as Jubilee party leader giving him the power to negotiate with other parties ahead of the August 9, elections.

Many political pundits opine that with such powers, Uhuru is in a good position to influence whoever will be the running mate of Raila Odinga who is expected to be the presidential candidate for the Azimio la Umoja movement.
