On Tuesday, July 16, presidential front runners William Ruto and Raila Odinga are expected to face off in the 2022 presidential debate ahead of the August 9, General Election.
The debate comes just days after their 2022 running mates Rigathi Gachagua and Martha Karua faced off on Tuesday, July 19, at the Catholic University East Africa (CUEA) main campus in Nairobi.
In the debate, Deputy President William Ruto’s running mate displayed sharp debating skills that saw him ranked best in most random exit opinion polls conducted shortly after the debate.
Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula has now warned former Prime Minister Raila Odinga to also prepare for an embarrassing defeat when he faces off with William Ruto.
Speaking in Kibra Constituency on Wednesday, July 20 while campaigning for Ruto’s presidential bid, the Ford Kenya party leader said the chief hustler will pick Raila apart just like Gachagua did to Karua.
Wetang’uls, a co-principal in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance said Ruto will head into the debate carrying ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi’s economics knowledge as well as the interests of the majority of the Kenyan hustlers.
He said he will equip the second in command with his eloquent English as well as his sharp legal mind.
“Chief hustler atakuja kwa debate amebeba economics ya Musalia, sharia na kizungu ya Wetang’ula, interest ya mahutsler (Our chief hustler will come equipped with economics from Musalia Mudavadi, fluent English from Wetang’ula, interests of hustlers and those of all Kenyans) … you will see how he will peel Raila like an onion,” Wetang’ula said.
