William Ruto: Raila is too old to be president

by Antynet Ford

Deputy President William Ruto has said ODM leader Raila Odinga is aging and might not manage to deliver anything if elected president in the coming General Election.

Speaking while in Embulbul, Ngong, Kajiado County on Thursday, January 13, Ruto asked his supporters why they want to gamble by electing an elderly Raila.

“Don’t let them divide us into tribal parties let us unite so that we can face our challangers as one. He (Raila Odinga) has been in the government and he is aging, how sure are you he will perform,

“Are you giving this seat (presidential seat) to Raila who has no track record or hustler who has performed? He is going now to eighty years, what can he do?” Paused Ruto.

Raila Odinga recently celebrated his 77 birthday and will be arguably Kenya’s oldest presidential candidate in the history of multi-party democracy.

William Ruto on the other hand is 55 years and recently celebrated his birthday too. He is has established himself as a suave politician, emerging ahead of the likes of Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzoi Muyoka who joined politics way ahead of him.

With the two emerging as the frontrunners ahead of the 2022 presidential race, Kenyans have been treated to war or wards pitying them anf their supporters against each other.

In the Kajhiado meeting, for instance, Ruto again took a swipe at Raila Odinga, claiming he has served in government before but has nothing to show for it and as such he is not fit to be president.

“This (2022 presidential contest) is not a beauty contest; it is a contest on one’s track record on development,” said Ruto.

The DP went ahead to name the projects the government has done for the county of Kajiado, including roads, schools, and rural electrification, adding Raila has nothing to show in Kajiado

DP took the same message to Ongata Rongai and Gataka where he urged residents to work with him ahead of his contest with Raila.

Kajiado’s rally came a day after he spent the whole day in Nairobi County Popularising his August 2022 presidential bid.
