Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has assured President William Ruto that he will still lose in the 2027 presidential race even if he names Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his presidential running mate.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has assured President William Ruto that he will still lose in the 2027 presidential race even if he names Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro as his presidential running mate.

Speaking in Teso North, Busia County on Monday, January 15, the ODM Secretary General said that Gachagua had already messed the ground for President William Ruto.

“Hata walete Nyoro, Gachagua ama Yule mwingine, kichapo ya 2027 inakuja kali sana kutoka kwa wananchi (Even if they bring Nyoro, Gachagua or the other one, the defeat of 2027 will come very strongly from the people),” Sifuna said.

Earlier, a section of Mt Kenya leaders led by Murang’a Senator Joe Nyutu and Gatanga Member of Parliament Edward Muriu, had cautioned the president against naming DP Rigathi Gachagua as his 2027 presidential running mate.

The leaders had instead endorsed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro named as President William Ruto’s 2027 presidential running mate arguing that the DP had failed to meet the cut of an individual who can be entrusted with leadership.

“Ruto should drop Gachagua so that he can pick somebody who can be able to make friends across the body, somebody who respects people. So we are saying that Ndindi Nyoro is the person who will save the president in 2027,” Senator Nyutu said.

Sifuna further hit out at Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for threatening to take the High Court Judge who ruled against his case.

The vocal legislator challenged the second in command to present evidence linking High Court Judge Esther Maina to corruption.

Sifuna said it was wrong for the second in command to single out the judge adding that it was against the laid down procedures in the Judicial Service Commission.
