Ongoro, who rejoined ODM in 2020 from ANC revealed that she sold her buildings to ensure that the former Prime Minister succeeds the then outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I want to tell you the truth: if I tell you the number of buildings I sold to make sure that Raila Odinga’s vision becomes a reality, some of you would think that I am foolish, but it is because I really wanted it to happen,” Ongoro said.

Ongoro, who is the sister to Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo further said she sacrificed a lot to ensure the Azimio leader reached Cannan but what she termed as ‘crocodiles’ punctured their plans.

“When we wanted to get to Canaan, some of us did it with all our hearts and tears, pushing for a Raila Odinga presidency, but we got to river Jordan, and Raila took some steps backward, telling us he had seen a crocodile. We came back. I went back to prayer to make decisions, but I got many crocodiles,” she said.

In the 2022 General Election run-up, the ODM leader mounted an expensive presidential campaign giving Kenya Kwanza’s candidate William Ruto a run for his money.

The expensive presidential campaigns mounted by Raila saw his bitter rival William Ruto claim that he was being funded by thieves.

Two months ago, Ongoro ditched Raila Odinga’s political wing to President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Ongoro who was welcomed by the party’s Secretary-General Cleophas Malala stated that she was defecting to the ruling party because it means ‘well’ for the county.

“We believe that the UDA party and its leadership means well for this county,” she stated.
