Lawyer Miguna Miguna wonders what President Ruto will tell Kenyans in 2027

A section of leaders allied to President William Ruto have announced that the Kenya Kwanza government has ‘nothing to do’ to bring down the cost of fuel.

For instance, Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir last week said the Kenya Kwanza government was not in a position to influence the local cost of fuel.

“… there is nothing much we can do (to bring down the cost of fuel),” Chirchir told the National Assembly’s Departmental Committee on Energy.

However, on Monday, September 18, controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna asked President William Ruto to come clean on why the country went into an election if the government of the day had no say over the global economic situation.

“If an elected Kenya government has no power to alleviate the impact of the global economic conditions on Kenyans, why did the Kenya Kwanza coalition tell voters that it had better plans than Azimio to do exactly that?” Miguna wrote on X.

The outspoken lawyer who threw his weight behind William Ruto in the 2022 presidential elections further told the Head of State to warn his allies against abusing Kenyans and reminded them that the next General Election was not far.

He further wondered what President William Ruto will tell Kenyans in 2027 when he will be seeking his re-election if he cannot bring down the cost of living.

“Are the chatterers abusing Kenyans know that there are elections coming up in August 2027? Will you campaign on the platform of doing nothing in the face of the high cost of living? Will you tell Kenyans that the Treasury will be run by the IMF and the World Bank?” Miguna added.
