Nandi senator thrown out of Senate “You’re out of order”

by Enock Ndayala

Nandi senator Samson Cherargei was on Tuesday, August 29, forcefully thrown out of the chambers for the remainder of the evening session.

This was after the outspoken UDA senator defied orders issued by Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.

Cherargei became unruly after the Speaker had directed him to take his seat. This was after Stewart Madzayo, Kilifi Senator, referred to him as a kid during a heated debate.

“Senator Cherargei, take your seat, or I will rule you out of order and kick you out. I will address your concerns,” the Speaker warned.

However, Cherargei demanded a retraction, arguing that he was deeply aggrieved by what he argued was an intentionally spewed vitriol. He thus remained standing contrary to Kingi’s directive.

The Nandi senator, who was evidently furious, said the House should be respected, saying he could not sit down before an apology was issued.

“I am not sitting down until he apologizes Mr. Speaker, This House must be respected. We are not children. I will not sit down,” Cherargei said before he was ejected out of the chambers for the rest of the sitting.

This saw Speaker Amason Kingi direct Sergent at Arms to forcefully eject Cherargei out of the chambers for the remaining session.

“Sergent at Arms use the necessary force to get the Senator out of the chambers,” Speaker Kingi ordered after Cherargei failed to take his seat.

The senators were discussing the formation and composition of the National Dialogue team headed by Kimani Ichung’wah, National Assembly Leader of the Majority, and Kalonzo Musyoka, Wiper’s part leader and Azimio co-principal.
