Presidential hopeful Jimmy Wanjigi narrates police raid on his office

by Amos Khaemba

Heavily armed police officers on the night og Monday, January 17 stormed the offices of Presidential hopeful and businessman Jimmy Wangiji in Westlands, Nairobi.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Wanjigi confirmed the raid saying that the armed officers gained access to the premise and refused to talk to his lawyers, demanding only to see him.

“This evening at around 9.30 we were told that CID officers are at the gate. They were asked what they want and they said they just want me. The officers were asked whether they can see a lawyer and they said no,” he narrated.

“They got in, opened the gate, and surrounded the compound. They were disguised from the head to toe and were carrying assault rifles,

” Told two of my lawyers who had arrived that they want me to go to CID to write a statement. We don’t know a statement for what,” Wanjigi said.

The ODM presidential hopeful pointed an accusing finger at President Uhuru Kenya and the ODM leader for being behind the raid.

He said that the raid by armed officers believed to be DCI detectives could have been as a result of the remarks he made on Saturday, January 16, where he castigated Odinga accusing him of dishonesty.

“I tend to believe that it has a lot to do with what I said over the weekend and maybe they have some information of the kind of campaign I intend to launch,

“But this weekend I was very clear about various personalities and it seems to be making some of my friends very uncomfortable,” Wanjigi added.

The presidential hopeful vowed not to be intimidated, and that he will continue speaking his mind even if it hurts his opponents.
