Raila Odinga on why he snubbed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in front of Uhuru

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has dismissed sections of media reports that he snubbed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in front of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

On August 10, the President hosted the ODM leader alongside One Kenya Alliance principals at the State House, Mombasa.

After the meeting, the leaders came out for a photo session where a video emerged showing Raila Odinga ignoring the Wiper leader after elbow bumping other leaders who had attended the meeting.

But speaking to the Mt Kenya people on Friday, August 27, the 4-time presidential aspirant argued that the media got it wrong.

Raila said that Kalonzo was having a chat with President Uhuru hence he needed to have time with the president adding that he was to travel with the Wiper leader back to Nairobi hence there was no need to bid him goodbye.

“I did not leave Kalonzo (Musyoka)without greeting him at the Mombasa State House…Kalonzo was talking with (President) Uhuru for a while before joining me at the airport to fly back to Nairobi. That is why I did not say goodbye to him there,” he said.

While Kenyans argued that Raila had personal differences with Kalonzo after Uhuru allegedly failed to broker a truce between the two, Raila dismissed the allegations.

“People started saying that I bypassed him because of some personal differences. We had just finished the meeting, there was no indifference. That is why I am saying that the media got it wrong,” Raila added.

Although prior reports indicated that the meeting was aimed at uniting the opposition ahead of the 2022 succession plan, Raila refuted the claims adding that the meeting was basically about the state of the nation and updates on the fight against Covid-19.
