DP Gachagua says Raila met President Ruto in Mombasa, struck deal

by Enock Ndayala
Political fanatic Nuru Okanga has warned opposition leader Raila Odinga against associating himself with President William Ruto.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has dismissed the ongoing bipartisan talks between Kenya Kwanza and the opposition wing.

Speaking on Tuesday, August 22, at the burial ceremony of the late Anne Musau, who is the mother of Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka, in Machakos, Gachagua termed the talks as a “waste of time”.

The second in command said nothing meaningful will come out of the Kalonzo Musyoka-Kimani Ichungwa-led talks being held at the Bomas of Kenya.

“These talks being led by Kalonzo, there is nothing to wait from there… Nothing will come out of those talks. It is a waste of time. I’m telling you as deputy president of the Republic of Kenya,” Gachagua said.

He revealed that already the President has held talks with the opposition and the two had reached an agreement.

The deputy president said Raila secretly met with the president just like he did in 2018 when he struck a deal with now-retired president Uhuru Kenyatta without involving other opposition luminaries.

“Raila ametafuta Rais juzi, hakukuja na Kalonzo. Hakuna mambo ya Kalonzo aliongea. Aliongea mambo yake, ya mtoto wake na bibi yake na watu yao. Sasa hii mazungumzo ametuma Kalonzo… pale kwa agenda hakuna mambo ya maji ya ukambani, mbolea, ama bara bara.  Kwa hiyo mazungumzo, nini iko hapo ya wakamba?” Posed Gachagua.

Loosely translated to: “Raila recently looked for the President in the absence of Kalonzo Musyoka. He did not talk about Kalonzo. He talked about himself, his son and his wife, and their people. Now he has sent Kalonzo to lead the bipartisan talks… there is nothing on the agenda for the people of Ukambani; water, fertilizers, or roads. So the conversation?”
