Kipchumba Murkomen: President Uhuru is an embarrassment to Kenyans

by Amos Khaemba

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen has labeled President Uhuru Kenyatta an embarrassment to Kenyans over the decision to endorse the ODM leader Raila Odinga in the forthcoming August 9 presidential election.

Murkomen termed the move by the president as being misplaced, saying it is a disgrace to the Office of the President, arguing that no sitting president has ever done that.

Speaking on Saturday, February 12, in Kakamega County during the Kenya Kwanza rally, Murkomen joined DP Ruto’s allies in faulting President Uhuru for taking politics into the State House.

“Tunataka kuambia Rais, umejitia aibu na umetia State House aibu, presidents wote hata President Moi alikucampaignia lakini hakufanya uchafu kama huo,” Murkomen said.

Loosely translated to “We want to tell the president; you have disgraced yourself and the State House. All presidents including President Moi campaigned for you bad never did dirty things the way you are doing.”

The Deputy president’s close ally further challenged President Uhuru to let ODM leader Raila Odinga campaign in the grassroots and face his competitors.

“Get out of our way. Let us fight with the person who wants to be president. Uhuru should go on holiday and leave us the candidate to deal with him. You’re looking so bad and desperate.” Murkomen said.

The sentiments by the former senate majority leader come after President Uhuru hosted more than 3000 youths in State House where he rallied them to support Raila Odinga for the presidency.

“And because some were politicking while work was ongoing, we have said we want a coalition unit of like-minded parties and together we join Azimio. We have the candidate, we have the resources and the youth are together with us,” the Head of State said.

After the State House meeting, a video surfaced on social media where the youths could be seen chanting..Yote yawezekana bila Ruto…yote yawezekana bila Ruto.
