Late retired president Mwai Kibaki’s’grandson’ was arrested for disrupting prayers

by Amos Khaemba

Allan Makana, a man who alleges to be the late former President Mwai Kibaki’s grandson was on April 29, arrested at Nyayo National Stadium for disrupting the prayer service during Kibaki’s requiem mass.

The arrest came after Makana ran to the dais and requested the bishop conducting the mass to accord him an opportunity to pay his tribute to his ‘grandfather’

“I need just two minutes to make a few remarks. Just two minutes I want to say something,” Makana was heard saying.

The bishop politely declined his request and asked the mass orderlies to gently escort him off the dais.

The plain cloth officer presumably from the presidential escort unit swiftly whisked him away prompting the bishop to request them not to harm him.

“He is a son of our nation who is emotional at the loss of our president. Please treat him nicely,” Kivuva urged the police.

The drama happened immediately after President Uhuru Kenyatta had finished paying his tribute to the late president.

Makana is the same man who was seen in a viral video clip on Wednesday, April 27 wailing saying he was a free education benefactor and wanted to pay his last respects to Kibaki.

In a video, police officers in uniform were seen trying to console him to calm down and proceed to pay the last respects to the fallen hero.

Makana who had gone to view the body of his alleged ‘grandfather’ said he was devastated by the news of his death.

“I am a distant child of Kibaki, please….People used to call me Kibaki from where I live and I have been living with that mentality that I am a distant grandchild of late president Mwai Kibaki,” Makana alleged.

“He is my president, he gave me free education, give me time and opportunity to view his body and say goodbye to him,” he added.
