Moses Wetang’ula invites Kalonzo to William Ruto’s camp

by Amos Khaemba

Ford Kenya party leader Moses Wetang’ula has invited the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to join the Kenya Kwanza alliance led by Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking in Trans Nzoia on Thursday, March 3 during the Kenya Kwanza campaign trail, Wetang’ula said that William Ruto’s camp is ready to work with Kalonzo ahead of the August elections.

“Kalonzo is a respectable former vice-president of Kenya, and Kenya Kwanza is ready to work with Kalonzo to boost our numbers,” Wetang’ula added.

The Bungoma senator hit out at Makau Mutua, the spokesman for Raila Odinga’s Presidential Campaign team for abusing the Wiper leader.

“My brother Kalonzo, you are my friend, I was shocked to see Makau Mutua. A man whose record in academia is dubious and unverifiable, talking ill about you, I stand here as your long-term friend to defend,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula warned Mutua that being close to the former prime minister does not give one the license to abuse Kalonzo

Wetang’ula further cautioned Azimio la Umoja leaders that, the Kenya Kwanza team will not allow them to abuse the Wiper Leader.

“You cannot and you should not, and we shall not allow continuing speaking in a disparaging manner against a respected leader in the caliber and person of Kalonzo Musyoka,” Wetang’ula stated.

The sentiments by Wetang’ula mirrors that of Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa who also called on the Wiper leader to team up with the Kenya Kwanza alliance to form the next government.

“We support you and we want you to work together with William Ruto, Moses Wetang’ula, and Musalia Mudavadi to form a government that can stop political fraud. A government that will respect contracts, and the problems Kenyans always go through,” Barasa said during the meet the people-tour in his constituency.

The move by Kenya Kwanza leaders to court for Kalonzo, come after the Wiper caused an uproar within Azimio la Umoja by demanding that the ODM leader Raila Odinga honors the 2017 NASA deal.

In the NASA deal that Kalonzo made public recently, Raila Odinga has agreed to support the Wiper leader in the 2022 polls irrespective of the 2017 election outcome.
