MP Sylvanus Osoro summoned for saying he receives bribes to approve foreign trips

Osoro who was addressing a charged crowd on Sunday, October 29, during the National Government Affirmative Action Fund bragged how deep his pockets run.

The South Mugirango Member of Parliament further admitted to receiving a cut from Members of Parliament who want to be included in trips sponsored at the parliament.

“Mimi nimekuwa bunge siku mingi na nimetengeneza kitu ya kutosha. Na mimi ndio Chief Whip kule bungeni. Hao wabunge wote mimi ndio nawasimamia na wakitaka kuenda ng’ambo wanakuja kwa afisi yangu wananiwachia yangu ndio wanaenda,” he said.

Loosely translated to: “I have been in parliament for many days and I have made enough money. And I am the Chief Whip in the parliament. I manage all those MPs and if they want to go abroad, they come to my office, they leave mine to me and they go.”

As such, the EACC in a letter dated Monday, October 31, said it had launched investigations on the matter and asked the UDA lawmaker to appear before it on Monday, November 6, at 9:00 a.m. to shed light on the allegations and record a statement.

“The attention of the Commission has been drawn to utterances you made while in Bomet County during the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF0 event organized by Bomet County Woman Representative on Sunday, October 29,

“The Commission notes that these allegations constitute serious ethical issues and if true would amount to a serious breach of the integrity and ethical requirements governing the conduct of State officers as laid out under Chapter Six of the Constitution and the Leadership and Integrity Act 2012,” the commission said.
