Political analyst Daniel Orogo has said that President William Ruto is grooming Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi to be his running mate in the 2027 elections.

Speaking during an interview on TV47 on Thursday, October 5, Orogo said the more roles and responsibilities given to Mudavadi were meant to prepare him to be his running mate and finally his heir come 2032.

“His experience in economic issues, his international image, and also his stature as a unifying person that would definitely be a running mate and an heir apparent to President Ruto,” he said.

Ruto, on Wednesday, October 4, reshuffled his Cabinet and gave Mudavadi more roles.

In the new changes, Mudavadi, a co-principal in the Kenya Kwanza Coalition will now double as Foreign and Diaspora Cabinet Secretary.

In a statement, Mudavadi said he was fully aware of the significance of his dual role and promised to embrace the opportunity with a profound sense of duty and dedication.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been entrusted by His Excellency President William Ruto with an expanded role in the reshuffled Cabinet.

“I express my sincere gratitude to His Excellency for the trust placed in me by assigning me the additional vital role of the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs,” Mudavadi said.

Last month, the former Vice President reiterated that it will be difficult to unseat William Ruto in the 2027 General Election.

He instead urged those talking about succession politics to focus on 2032.

“Let us not do any guesswork anymore, the situation is quite clear that Ruto has the advantage and he is keeping his promise… and it is easier for us to work with President Ruto to the election of 2027 and then maybe you can talk after that,” Mudavadi said.
