Deputy President William Ruto blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for running down the economy.

During his tour of the coastal region, Deputy President William Ruto blasted President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga for running down the economy.

Sentiments by the United Democratic Alliance presidential flag bearer come on the high hill of increase cost of basic commodities such us flour that is retailing at Ksh 200.

Ruto and his allies have challenged the ODM leader to use his close relationship with the president to bring down the cost of flour.

Speaking on Citizen TV on Monday June 27, Soi MP Caleb Kositany said the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer should squarely blamed for the deteriorating economic standards in the country.

According to Kositany, the Head of State has been receiving key advice for the former prime minister in what could have let to the president making wrong decisions.

Kositany dismissed those trying to lay blame on the deputy president, saying the Kenya Kwanza alliance principal is in government but with no decision-making roles.

“William Ruto is in government just by paper, but in terms of policy discussions and think tanks that is advising the president, the president has publicly told us that right now his biggest adviser is Raila Odinga.” Kositany said.

Kositany recalled that DP Ruto in September 2017, played a key role in the discussion of the subsidy programe that led to reduction of price from Ksh 90 to Ksh 75.

According to William Ruto’s ally, the Head of State seems not to be concerned with the suffering Kenyans because of the poor advise he has been getting.

“If the president is concerned about the common mwananchi, he would have convened a cabinet meeting to discuss where can we make savings in order to subsidize the cost of flour like we did in September 2017.” He stated.

Kositany, who lost the Uasin Gishu gubernatorial UDA nominations, added that Ruto has nothing to offer to remedy the current economic hardship because the president takes advice from the ODM leader.

But President Uhuru Kenyatta has defended his government over the currently economic conditions saying the Ukraine-Russia war is to blame.

The Head of State said, Kenya like the rest of the world has witnessed a sharp rise in the cost of fuel leading to the increase in cost of basic commodities.
