Oscar Sudi asks President Uhuru to stop lying Kenyans economy is affected by Russia-Ukraine war

Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta not to deceive Kenyans that the Russia-Ukraine war has damaged the country’s economy.

This comes about a week after the Head of State declared a 12 percent increase in the minimum wage bill as part of President Uhuru’s bid to cushion Kenyans against the rising cost of living.

Uhuru was speaking during labour Day Celebrations on Sunday, May 1, at Nyayo Stadium said the country’s inflation had been occasioned by Covid-19 and other external economic factors including them the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war.

“The recovery from effects of Covid-19, which was witnessed through loss of living, jobs, and salary cuts, have been slowed down by events such as the ongoing geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine,” President Uhuru said.

But Sudi, a fierce critic of President Uhuru Kenyatta in a video posted on his social media platforms warned the first in command against linking the Russia-Ukrainian war to the plight Kenyans are going through.

According to the legislator, the country’s economy sunk long ago even before the outbreak of Corona Virus.

“Uchumu uliharibika kabla ya vita vya Ukrain na Urusi. Uchumi wan chi yako uliharibika hata kabla ya chipuko la ugonjwa wa Corona ndugu yangu, (The economy collapsed before the war in Ukraine and Russia. Your country’s economy was ruined even before the outbreak of Corona my brother),” Sudi said.

He further said the country’s economy started declining immediately after president Uhuru started using the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Kenya Revenue Authority to harass business owners

“Wakati ulianza kuweka watu kwa DCI, ulifukuza wanabiashara, ukafunga watu ukakimbiza wakina Keroche hadi ukaita naibu wako ukamwambia unataka kufanya kazi peke yako. Wacha kudanganya wakenya,”

“When you started putting people on DCI radar, you fired the businessmen, arrested the people, and chased the Keroche away until you called your deputy and told her you wanted to work alone. Stop deceiving Kenyans,” he said.
