Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Saturday, August 12, sensationally claimed that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition sponsored Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah’s 2022 presidential manifesto launch.

Speaking during an interview with a local TV station, the move was part of Azimio’s tactics that a part of the former government exploited in an attempt to cripple William Ruto‘s presidential bid.

“I got a little bit of it from the friends of Uhuru Kenyatta and we funded Wajackoyah’s launch and the way we did it is that we wanted it to happen on the same day that Ruto was doing his launch,

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi on Saturday, August 12, sensationally claimed that Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition sponsored Roots Party leader George Wajackoyah’s 2022 presidential manifesto launch.

“Our thinking is that Ruto is of a choleric temper so I wanted to do this as a way of irritating him so that when you have half screens on the TVs,” he stated.

Kenya Kwanza’s Presidential manifesto for the August 2022 elections was held at the same time as that of the Roots party, a move that saw the two separate events share TV screens.

However, in a quick rejoinder, Wajackoyah has denied claims by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi terming them as “baseless.”

“Our attention has been drawn to remarks by Mutahi Ngunyi alleging that our party was sponsored to launch its manifesto on the same day as Kenya Kwanza in the build-up to the 2022 August poll to reduce “Ruto’s hype”

“These remarks are baseless, unfounded, and serve as an insult to our party. Roots party is a national party and does not subscribe to tokenism, a field Mutahi Ngunyi holds Aphd in,” the party said in a statement.

Wajackoya’s party further accused the analyst of using the outfit to peddle false political conjectures to kneel before President William Ruto adding that the Roots party is committed to the Economic Liberation through the legalization of hemp.

“For a man who survives on intellectual harlotry and peddling conjectures, it is least worrying that he will use our party to kneel before Mr. Ruto,” the party added.
