Kenya’s President William Ruto has fired salvos at those critiquing his new tax measures.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Monday, January 23, announced the return of weekly protests starting Sunday, January 29.

Raila, who will be leading his troops to Jacaranda ground is expected to give his supporters the way forward following an alleged report on vote-rigging claims by an IEBC whistleblower.

“Tutakua na mkutano nyingine jumapili ijayo, tarehe ishirini na tisa kule Jacaranda (We will have another meeting next Sunday, the twenty-ninth at Jacaranda),” Raila Odinga said on Monday.

However, Kenya’s President William Ruto on Friday, January 27, vowed to neutralize Raila’s Jacaranda protests.

The Head of State said Raila’s weekly protests were not meant to benefit common citizens but were just aimed at helping the chosen few.

“Ile mimi siwezi kufanya ni kukubali ati watu wachache wanibebee ati nishughlike na mambo ya familia zao na biashara yao… Niwache kazi ya wananchi milioni hamsinsi? hiyo sitafanya,” said President William Ruto.

Ruto without mentioning names said it was wrong for Raila to front hustlers for protests while his sons and daughters were eating life with big spoons.

“Watoto wenu mmewapelka kule bunge rusha. Mumewapeleka wengine ng’ambo halafu watoto wa hawa wakenya mnawapeleka kamkunji na Jacaranda eti waende wapigane mawe. That I will not allow,” Ruto added.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga insisted that the revelations by the IEBC whistleblower was correct adding that he won the elections by 57 percent.

He challenged the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to open the servers if indeed the figures announced by the presidential returning officer in August were accurate.

IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto the president-elect after garnering 7.1 million against Raila’s 6.9 million votes.
